In March 2026, we completed a major underground power connection on a semi-rural property in Worrowing Heights, near Huskisson in the Shoalhaven region.
This Level 2 electrical project involved installing a 350 metre underground power connection, transforming the property from generator reliance to a permanent connection to the local electricity network.
From generator to reliable mains electricity.
The property owner had recently built a small home on their rural block but had been relying on a generator for day-to-day power.
While generators can provide a temporary solution, they are often noisy, require ongoing fuel and maintenance, and are not ideal for long-term living.
By installing an underground connection to the mains electricity network, the property now benefits from a reliable, consistent and more efficient power supply. This upgrade significantly improves convenience, safety and the overall liveability of the home.
350 metres of underground power installation.
Due to the size of the property, the project required a substantial underground installation spanning approximately 350 metres.
We supplied and installed all underground consumer mains cabling and conduiting, designed to suit the layout and requirements of the property. We completed extensive excavation and trenching works to ensure the cabling was safely and securely installed, including road crossing and traffic control where required.
This type of large-scale underground power installation is ideal for rural and semi-rural properties, offering a clean, unobtrusive solution without overhead power lines.
Direct connection to the electricity network.
As part of the works, we installed a direct connection to the network transformer pole, allowing the property to access the local electricity supply.
We also installed:
- Two private power pillars
- A new main switchboard located in the barn or shed
- A three-phase electricity system to support current and future power demands
- All required fuses, links and protection devices
This setup ensures the property has the capacity to handle larger electrical loads and future upgrades.
Safe disconnection of the existing off-grid system.
The property previously operated on a solar and generator-based off-grid system. As part of the upgrade, we safely disconnected the existing solar feed at the house switchboard to ensure a smooth and compliant transition to mains power.
All work was completed in accordance with current safety standards and network requirements.
Full project coordination and compliance
Projects of this scale require careful coordination between multiple parties. As Level 2 electricians, we are qualified and authorised to manage the entire process on behalf of the client, including:
- Liaising with Endeavour Energy, engineers and other trades
- Coordinating with Level 1 electricians where required
- Managing all design adjustments to meet network requirements
- Handling metering, testing and final connections
- Completing all approvals, notifications and compliance documentation
