CULBURRA BEACH |  JERVIS BAY

In February 2026, we completed a custom outdoor landscape lighting project for a new home build in Culburra Beach, near Jervis Bay. This project highlights how thoughtful electrical planning and collaboration can transform a garden into a functional and visually striking outdoor space, improving safety for owners and guests, enhancing street appeal, and creating an outdoor area that is practical and inviting.

Working cohesively with Jervis Bay Landscaping.

On this project, we collaborated with local landscapers, Jervis Bay Landscaping, to deliver a seamless result across both the front and rear gardens.

By working together from the outset, we were able to ensure that the electrical components complemented the landscaping design, rather than being an afterthought.

This collaborative approach ensures the outdoor lighting enhances the natural features of the garden and, importantly, will continue to improve as the plants grow and mature over time.

Using lighting to enhance a native garden.

This new home features a coastal native garden, perfect for its beachside location. The outdoor lighting plan was carefully designed to highlight key elements, native plants and large sandstone bush rocks, while maintaining an organic, understated look.

As the garden establishes and fills out, the lighting will become even more effective, adding depth, texture and atmosphere to the space in both the front and rear yards.

Rear garden lights and power options for year-round living.

The rear garden lighting and power options were designed to complement the outdoor kitchen and entertaining area, creating a functional and inviting space for evening use.

This included:

  • Installation of a weatherproof switch near the outdoor kitchen
  • Twin spot bollard lights positioned throughout the rear and northern garden beds
  • A feature up light installed on a gum tree to create visual interest and height
  • LED driver installation and complete garden lighting cabling with weatherproof connections
  • Spotlights designed to highlight the sandstone bush rocks scattered throughout the garden.

The result is a well-lit outdoor area that balances practicality with a natural ambience.

Enhacing the properties street appeal.

At the front of the property, the focus was on enhancing street appeal, improving safe access to the home, and maintaining a cohesive look that complements the natural landscape.

Works included:

  • Switch installation near the front entry for easy control
  • Twin spot bollards to illuminate the garden beds and walkway
  • A feature up light on a front tree to create a welcoming entrance
  • LED driver and full underground cabling with weatherproof joints

These elements work together to highlight the home’s façade and landscaping, creating a strong first impression both day and night.

To further enhance the outdoor space, we installed step lighting into the stone seating areas surrounding the garden. These lights were selected in a brushed brass finish to blend naturally with the tones of the stone.

This subtle lighting not only adds visual warmth but also improves safety when moving through the space at night.

Safety and practical electrical features.

In addition to the feature lighting, several practical electrical components were included:

  • Sump pump power with a weatherproof power point mounted on a galvanised post
  • Underground conduiting and cabling connected back to the outdoor kitchen circuit
  • Sensor lighting with a 3-position auto/manual switch for added safety and security
  • Excavation works to support all underground electrical installations

These features ensure the outdoor space is not only visually appealing but also safe, reliable and built to last.

A design that will improve over time.

One of the standout aspects of this project is how the lighting has been designed to evolve with the garden. As the native plants grow and mature, the lighting effects will become even more pronounced, enhancing depth, shadows and overall ambience.

By planning the electrical work alongside the landscaping, the end result is a cohesive outdoor environment that will continue to improve over time.
