Our electricians recently completed Level 2 electrical works at a residential property in Manyana, addressing a deteriorated overhead power connection and upgrading the home’s electrical safety systems.
Replace a corroded point of attachment.
The property’s point of attachment had become corroded and required replacement. This is the overhead service cable from the street power pole that connects to the home. It plays a critical role in safely securing and supporting the incoming power supply before it enters the property.
Over time, exposure to weather, salt air, and general wear can cause this component to corrode, particularly in coastal areas like Manyana. If left unaddressed, this can lead to safety risks, unreliable power supply, or potential damage to the electrical system.
As Level 2 electricians, we are licensed to replace the corroded components and upgrade the connection to ensure a safe, secure and compliant overhead supply.
Overhead service cabling upgrade.
As part of the works, we also upgraded the overhead service cabling at the street power pole, which connects the electricity supply to the property.
This involved working directly on the power pole, ensuring the connection meets current standards and provides a reliable power supply moving forward.
This type of work must be carried out by authorised Level 2 electricians due to the complexity and safety requirements involved.
Switchboard upgrade with RCD safety protection.
At the same time, we upgraded the property’s switchboard to include RCD safety switches.
RCDs, also known as safety switches, are designed to protect people from electric shock. They work by instantly cutting off power if an electrical fault is detected, such as current leaking through a person or faulty appliance.
Upgrading to a switchboard with RCD protection is highly recommended because it:
- Provides critical protection against electric shock
- Reduces the risk of electrical fires
- Brings the installation in line with current safety standards
- Improves overall reliability of the electrical system
Older switchboards without RCDs do not offer the same level of protection, making upgrades an important safety improvement for any home.
