Electricity wires relocation in Jervis Bay

Overhead electricity cables relocated to protect a much-loved palm tree.

OLD EROWAL BAY | JERVIS BAY

We recently completed a specialised ASP Level 2 electrical project in Old Erowal Bay (Jervis Bay, NSW South Coast) which involved relocating the overhead electricity service cables that were obstructing the growth of a spectacular palm tree in the customer’s front garden.

As the palm matured, its fronds had begun to encroach on the overhead wires connecting the property to the street power pole. This was beginning to pose a safety threat.

To resolve the issue, we installed new underground consumer mains and conduit to supply the main switchboard, safely redirecting the power away from the tree’s growth path.

This solution allowed us to preserve the tree while maintaining a safe and reliable electricity supply – an outcome that was both practical and environmentally responsible.

Electrical works completed.

As licensed ASP Level 2 electricians, we are authorised to carry out the full scope of works on this job, which involved:

  • Relocation of the overhead service mains electricity cables.
  • Underground consumer mains and underground conduiting system supplying main switch board.
  • Road crossing and traffic control measures to ensure the work could be completed safely and with minimal disruption.
  • Electrical switchboard upgrades to bring the installation in line with current standards.
  • Coordination with Endeavour Energy, including all required notifications and approvals for service work.

Electricity switchboard upgrade

As part of this project, we completed a switchboard upgrade to ensure the home’s electrical system could safely handle the relocated power supply and meet current safety standards.

Older switchboards were not designed to support the growing number of modern appliances and electrical loads found in today’s homes. Many still rely on outdated ceramic fuses, which not only lack the safety features of modern circuit breakers but can also pose a serious fire risk.

Upgrading to a modern switchboard offers several key benefits:

  • Improved safety – New switchboards are equipped with safety switches (RCDs) that quickly shut off power if a fault is detected, reducing the risk of electric shock or fire.
  • Greater capacity – They’re designed to handle higher electrical loads, supporting modern appliances like air conditioners, ovens, EV chargers, and home offices.
  • Compliance – Ensures your home meets current Australian electrical standards and can pass inspections for renovations or property sales.
  • Peace of mind – You’ll know your home’s electrical system is reliable, future-proofed, and safe for your family.

Licensed and compliant electrical work
