We recently completed the installation of a new electricity supply to a property in West Nowra, ready for the builders to start construction.
Our authorised ASP Level 2 electricians completed the connection work, switchboard installation and cabling to provide power during construction and support the property’s future electrical requirements.
Scope of electrical works
- Galvanised steel private power pole installation
- Single-phase overhead electricity connection
- Private pillars and a builder’s power switchboard
- Consumer mains cabling sized to accommodate future electrical loads
Private power pole and overhead connection
The first part of the project involved installing a new galvanised steel private power pole, complete with foundations, fittings and the hardware required to support the overhead connection.
We installed the new single-phase overhead supply to the pole and consumer mains cabling from the pole to a new private pillar. The pillar provides an enclosed connection point for the cabling and associated electrical equipment.
This work included all overhead supports, terminations and connection accessories needed for a complete installation.

Builder’s power switchboard installation
To provide power during construction, we installed a new main switchboard mounted on galvanised steel support posts.
The installation included:
- A private pillar and cabling between the pillar and switchboard
- Consumer mains terminations and internal switchboard wiring
- Switchgear and electrical protection devices
- An earth electrode, earthing conductors and connections
- Mounting hardware, cable glands and identification labels
The freestanding arrangement provides a dedicated location for the builder’s power equipment without relying on a completed building for support.
Underground cabling and private pillar connections
The project also included installing, pulling in and terminating new consumer mains cabling at the private pillars. The underground conduit route runs through the bushland setting, with private pillars providing connection points along the installation. We completed the cable terminations with the required lugs, glands, fixings and associated accessories.
The consumer mains were upsized beyond the minimum required capacity to accommodate future electrical loads. Planning for these requirements during the initial installation can reduce the need to replace cabling as the property’s power needs grow.
Testing, commissioning and documentation
Following installation, we completed testing, verification and commissioning of the electrical work in accordance with the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and applicable electricity distributor requirements.
The project also included preparing and submitting the required distributor notifications, compliance documentation and test results.
Together, the new overhead connection, private power pole, underground cabling and builder’s power switchboard established the electrical infrastructure for the site’s construction and future use.
